Eibar thrashed Celta de Vigo II 0-4 in matchday five of Segunda División, securing their fourth consecutive win and strengthening their position in the upper half of the table. Jon Magunazelaia opened the scoring in the 9th minute after an assist from Malcom Ares, who then scored in the 13th with a pass from Sergio Cubero. Jon Guruzeta completed the rout with two goals, one in the 20th and another in the 43rd, before halftime.
Jokin Arambarri’s side lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, starting with Jon Mikel, Sergio Cubero, M. Arana, Unai Elgezabal, Anaitz Arbilla, Aleix Garrido, Ander Madariaga, Malcom Adu, Jon Magunazelaia, Jon Guruzeta and Jon Bautista. Despite having only 35% possession, Eibar were clinical: seven of their twelve shots were on target, compared to nine of Celta de Vigo II’s 24 attempts.
In the second half, Arambarri made tactical changes: Alvaro Rodriguez replaced Malcom Ares at halftime, Iván Gil came on for Jon Magunazelaia in the 59th minute and Javier Martón Ansó substituted Jon Bautista in the 60th. Pejiño came on for Sergio Cubero in the 66th, while Elijah Gift Izobodo John replaced Jon Guruzeta in the 87th.
Several bookings were shown: Malcom Ares received a yellow card in the 16th for a foul, Sergio Cubero in the 63rd and Unai Elgezabal in the 64th, both for fouls. Anaitz Arbilla was cautioned in the 82nd for dissent. For Celta de Vigo II, Frank Germain Jonathan Miller was booked in the 33rd, Adrià Capdevila in the 52nd and Pablo González Meixús in the 78th, all for fouls. Fredi, the visiting coach, was yellow-carded in the 45th for dissent and shown a straight red in the 53rd.
With this result, Eibar reach nine points from four matches (3W-0D-1L), placing them sixth in the standings, four points behind leaders Castellón. The team holds a +3 goal difference after scoring six and conceding three. The win follows the 3-0 victory over Granada CF and precedes the next fixture, an away trip to Eldense on September 19, currently sixteenth in the table.
Eibar now have four wins in a row (WWWL), showing defensive solidity with nine saves made by their goalkeeper, compared to three by the opposition. The Armero side also won the tactical battles: although they conceded one corner against five from Celta de Vigo II, they committed fewer offsides (one versus zero) and were more disciplined in certain phases despite a higher foul count (13 against 8).
